Second Skin, 2026

Second Skin is a series of one-of-a-kind, 3-layer woodcut prints exploring clothing as a surrogate for the body and as a carrier of memory, identity, labor, and lived experience. The imagery developed from Sok Song’s graphite transfer process, translating impressions of clothing into carved woodblocks and layering them with camouflage patterns derived from animals. These overlapping surfaces consider adaptation, visibility, concealment, protection, and the ways identity is carried through what we wear.

The series was printed in collaboration with Master Printer Alexis Nutini at Brandywine Workshop and Archives, following Song’s Legacy Meets Innovation residency at Brandywine. While an edition was produced during the residency, these Second Skin works were created afterward as unique prints, extending the collaboration and process into individually composed works.

Each print measures 22 × 30 in. and is printed on Somerset Satin White paper. The works were originally framed for exhibition at Tina Kim Gallery in New York.
